Countdown

We will be leaving for Oregon in 8 days--and it couldn't get here any faster! I am so ready for a vacation and to see everybody! I was talking to Dad today and he was saying how Mom was making him put up lights and how he had to go and get the tree today too. (he always acts like it is such a surprise that those things have to happen) It is so different here in Utah--people put up their decorations up like the day after Halloween. (lame) It makes it still feel like home knowing that Mom and Dad haven't changed and that they are hurrying to get the decorating done for when we all come home. We are excited and hope that everyone else is too!

Happy Birthday Dad

I have been trying to better about recognizing birthdays, but I always remember too late, but I wanted Dad's to be the first one that I tried to get up on time...and again I am late. So, Happy Birthday Dad (on Friday) he is busy partying in Cali! I thought this picture suited him because he loves SF and he loves Ghiradelli. Hope you had a great birthday and we are excited to see you soon.

I'm Hooked

Against my better judgment I started watching Friday Night Lights. I didn't need another show to get hooked on, but I kept hearing from Michele and Emily how awesome it was. Well, yesterday when I got home from work I started watching it while Jandon was studying...7 episodes later I finally fell asleep. I am crazy, but it is really good! Thanks guys for making me want to watch it!

Far Out

Lately at work it has been so great, because I have been able to listen to John Denver all the time. My office is located in the behavioral unit (add comment here) and one of the residents likes to blare his music--well his cd of choice lately has been a John Denver album. It has Wild Montana Skies on it and he will play it for me whenever I want. It is great. Sorry again Michele for not inviting you to the concert that summer--it really was the best concert ever!

Memories

I had a funny talk with Mom tonight (I think Emily might be the only one to remember this) as we were remembering when she read us this book. I was so freaked out afterwards--it was so funny. Mom wanted it to be this special thing we did together and Emily and I were traumatized! We had a good laugh. It makes me that more excited to go home soon!

Thanksgiving

I know I have been terrible at blogging. I will do better, but probably after the holidays! Thanksgiving was very good! I really think that we need to have more days in the year that is centered around such good food and pies! Jason ended up making my Thanksgiving complete, because he made a chocolate pie and decided to share it with me. I am sorry, but it will never truly be a Thanksgiving to me if I don't have a chocolate pie. One of my favorite Thanksgivings was the year that we went to Idaho Falls and Grandma made cornacopias for everyone--I still to this day want to know how she made those!

Busy

I got back from San Fran last week and have been so busy with work since then. I hope to post soon about my trip. I was so excited to go, but I couldn't post about it, because we were surprising Emily, so I didn't want her to find out that way!

Cross Your Fingers

Just letting everyone know that Jandon is taking the LSAT on Saturday. I think he is much more nervous than he is letting on, but I am sure he will do fine. Everybody can think happy thoughts for him, so he can do good! Our future depends on it. (really)

The New Bed

Here is the new bed! Thanks to everyone we have everything brand new. Jandon got me the new bed frame for my birthday. I was bold with the comforter, and I like it! Jandon is not too sure how he feels about the flowers. We both love the sheets, so good pick Michele!! Thanks again Mom and Dad!

Happy Birthday to Me

I had a very good birthday. The best thing about my birthday was the my Mom and Dad got me a new mattress!! Yeah. We are very excited. It was just delivered this morning. It looks comfortable I can tell you that. Michele and Emily got us some new sheets. I don't think there is anything better than new sheets (except for the whole new bed) Jandon and I went to dinner with our friends on my birthday and then we had cake afterwards. It was just a good day all around. Thanks to everyone that called me and remembered that it was my birthday. Almost everyone remembered this year...I guess the countdown on the blog maybe helped!

Another Craft

Here are the new crafts I made for the new season. We are getting more and more "stuff" now that I have learned how to be crafty. I need to find a good spot to store all my crafts after the season is over.

Fondue

Last night Jandon and I went to Zupas for dinner. We ran into some friends from our ward, so we got talking. Before we knew we had all been there a while and I mentioned something about always wanting to get the fondue...since we had all let our meal settle for quite a bit we decided to get the fondue. It was very good! Of course anyone who knows me knows I love chocolate. (especially in melted form!)

TGIF

It has been a crazy week at work and I am just so glad that it is the weekend. My office is a cluster, but I don't care. I just wanted to come home and finally get to sleep in tomorrow morning. It didn't help that Monday was a holiday, but I still have just as much work as a regular week. I am not complaining though, because I do like my job and I like my co-workers (most of them).

Cartooned

This is Jandon and me as a cartoon. I thought this was kind of funny. You can see it better when you make it bigger.

The Bobbsey Twins

Over the past 2 weeks Jaden was lucky enough to get to stay at our house while he was kicked out of the dorms. I know that Jandon had fun because he had somebody to hang out with all the time. It was funny though when the 3 of us would go out together because they would walk just a little bit behind me and I felt like I had an entourage. They even got the nickname at my work as "The Bobbsey Twins" because they came in together a few times and they were both wearing similiar striped shirts.

It's September

This makes me excited for the new season! Thank goodness that Jim's hair is back to normal.

Summer Lovin'

I love s'mores. I think that the only reason why I love a campfire is because s'mores accompany it. We went to our ward campout this evening and I was the first one to break open the marshmallows and chocolate. There really is nothing better.

Our New Car

Here is a picture of our new car. We finally made our decision to get the Jeep Compass. It is a new model out this year. It was a tough decision to make, but we decided that this car had some good features that would suit us. It has been nice having a new car and we have sure enjoyed the new found luxury!

Just A Few Pictures

Vacation after a Vacation

All in all our vacations were very fun! Camp was very exhausting, but it is always a good time! I will post pictures soon. I got back in town yesterday and I had been feeling a little on the sick side, but not too bad. Jandon and I went to bed fairly early and I woke up in the middle of the night and both of my eyes were glued shut!! I am pretty sure that I have pink eye in both eyes! Horrible. i had to go to work this morning, because I hadn't been there forever and I have a lot to do by Friday. I brought all my work home with me today, so people don't get "the pink eye". We had a new boss start today, so that made me nervous about my situation! He was cool about it and kept asking me when I was going to go home. (that made me feel better) I am going to see the doctor this afternoon and hopefully all will be better!

An Update

We are having a good time in Pronghorn. The weather is great. Not too hot. We have mainly been swimming, golfing, sleeping, relaxing, eating, and hanging out! It is great. Pedicures tomorrow!!!

AMM #6

The video is a little bad, but it is hilarious!!! I did this mostly for Geoff, so he better check my blog!

Closer

I'm just letting everyone know that my vacation officially starts in almost 48 hours!!! I can't even believe how excited I am. I have almost everything ready to go at work. I just have to make sure that everyone knows they have to show up for every single shift while I am gone...or else! I am excited to see all of you (and Eryn I am not mad at you for not coming to Pronghorn...just sad) Camp is going to be a blast as always. This year I am with the 10-11 year old girls! I really liked being with the youngest group, but I am excited to be with girls that are a little older (although I am sure they think they are so much older!) See you all soon!

Test Drive

Jandon and I are on our way out the door to go test drive a few cars. We have to get rid of Cherokee, because of the transmission, so we have been on a quest the last week to try and figure out what kind of car to get. Hopefully after tonight we can have a better idea of what we want (well, we know what we want, so I guess what we can afford) We are looking at the Nissan Versa and Sentra, Volkswagen Rabbit and Jetta, and Jeep Liberty. Anyone have any advice let us know!

Redrum

I was on my last walk through today before I left work to make sure everything was ship-shape. I walked through the doors of the locked unit and there was blood on the floor. As I turned the corner there was a huge path of blood going all the way up the hallway! I have never seen so much blood in my whole life! It was just pools and pools of it. It really liked the scene from a horror movie where someone was just stabbed to death or something. (We have a guy on dialysis and he always takes the clamp off his arm before he is supposed to, but it was so much blood it was ridiculous!)

Shopping Spree

Today for my "lunch" I was sent on a little errand for my boss. We got a present for our DON because she is old and she works hard and we like her. My boss had to stay in the building, because we had some workers from the medicaid office...anyways...she sends me to the mall to get something from Bath and Body Works and then a pedicure. Well, the only petty cash she had was a stack of fresh $1's. Yes, she sent me to the store with a stack of 100 $1 bills! I go to the pedicure place and get the coupon. The lady looks at my money as I take it out my purse and she says "You work bank?" It was funny. Of course that always makes me rememeber..."How long come...?" "How long done...?" (Emily remembers that story)

The Holiday

Even though it is too hot, too muggy, and too sticky there is one good thing about Utah in July. We get an extra holiday!!! Jandon has the day off from school and I have the day off of work. We aren't doing anything exciting, but it is just nice to have an extra day off. The Days of '47 parade was in SLC today...we watched a little on TV, but it is nothing like The Rose Parade. (oh, and I have mentioned that it too hot to be outside)

AMM #5

Get past the first minute and then you can see the dance. I thought this was the coolest dance ever and how fun would it be to be able to dance like that!

Snake on the Porch

So, anyone who knows me at all knows how much I like creepy crawley things!! I don't even like ladybugs...they give me the whillies. Last night Jandon and I came home and I was walking down the steps to our front door there was a snake. It was huge. By huge I mean much bigger than a small gardener snake. I start yelling of course and then that makes Jandon a little irritated. I am stuck outside, because I am not walking down the stairs by the snake. Jandon goes inside to go get something to kill it with and he was inside for so long. I call my Mom and she was laughing at me over the phone as I am freaking out. She said Kaye got a snake out of her laundry room once. (that story did not help, because then I thought about snakes being in my laundry room) Finally Jandon killed the snake with a hammer and disposed of it. I was going to put a pitcure of a snake with this post, but I couldn't let myself look at a picure of a snake. YUCK!

"Personal Afternoon"

This past week at work was a pretty busy and semi-stressful week. Just lots of little fires that we had to be putting out all week. People were sick, people were annoying, and some people were even dumb. I think we were all happy that it was Friday. So, we were eating some cookies in the afternoon and I look down and there is a melted chocolate chip on my chair...I happened to also have been sitting on one too. I get up and of course it is right in the middle of my bum! It really did look like I had pooped my pants. At first everyone (there were only 3 of us) said it wasn't that bad, but them I smeared it with my hand!!! I go into the bathroom to try and get it off. Let's just say at the end of the ordeal I looked like I had peed and pooped my pants. Needless to say, I got to go home early and start my weekend! (Oh, don't worry the chocolate came out of my pants)

"AMM #4"

Again, I can't believe Mom let me watch this when I was so young! Remember all those Saturdays when we watched this movie over and over again!

Too Hot

It is true...once an Oregonian always an Oregonian. I really just can't take the heat!!! I get so sticky and so hot and so cranky! I go outside and I just wish for it rain. (kind of like Lazy Jane) I can handle 80, but more than that and I am dying. It really just makes me not want to go outside. I guess it is good that I grew up in a state where it rained 9 months out of the year. Even when it rains here it is still a "dry" rain. The one good thing is the thunderstorms in the summer, but we haven't even had any of those yet! (this is the crankiness setting in if you haven't noticed) I can be happy for one thing...at least I don't live in Arizona.

Happy 4th

Happy 4th of July!!! It is so hot here today I am not sure what we are going to do. We might go see a movie just to be in a cool place. I made these blocks a couple of weeks ago and I thought they were very cute. A girl in my ward is very crafty, so she cut out all the wood and invited a few of us over to make these with her. They had the hot air balloon show this morning. That is always really cool, because there are just tons of them all over the place. Have a fun day and I hope everyone gets to see some fireworks!

I couldn't resist...this is one of the funniest scenes between Dwight and Andy.

Stupid Question

Everyone knows the saying "there is no such thing as a stupid question". Here is an example of someone asking a stupid question: On Fridays, before I leave work, I make sure that all the schedules are out and updated, so I don't get calls from people not knowing what is going on. I thought I had been doing pretty good because it was 8pm on a Saturday night and I hadn't gotten any calls from East Lake. I must have jinxed myself...not more than 10 minutes later the phone rings. I answer it grudgingly expecting some sort of a scheduling issue. The girl says "Hi Angela, it's *Brittany...I was wondering if I could work on a different hall on Monday?" Now, does that question sound like any sort of emergency that you would want to call your boss about in the middle of a Saturday evening? I didn't think so. I thought that was a stupid question, and if you really wanted something you wouldn't bug people over the weekend. I simply said "no" She then went on to ask me how my weekend was going and if I liked having the weekends off. I replied "well, techinally I am having to work right now because you called me." I know I was probably a little impatient, but I was annoyed. I just couldn't get over the fact that she called me just to ask me that. Am I the only one that thinks that's weird? I hope not.
*Name has been changed :)

IKEA

Jandon and I had a fun day today. I was lucky enough to only have to work a half day, so my weekend start around 12. Jandon and I decided to go to IKEA. They opened one in Draper and neither one of us have ever been there, so we decided to jump on the bandwagon. As most of you know Jandon is an English major and he doesn't like to sell back any of his books, so between the two of us we have gotten quite a collection of books. We had been wanting a new book shelf for awhile, since half of our books were getting stacked next to our old shelf. We found a really nice (and inexpensive) bookshelf at IKEA. I am surprised we found anything in that store. It was such a maze! They set it up just right because they only let you go one way which makes you look at everything.

Summer Vacation

Last summer we were way too spoiled because I felt like we did a lot of vactioning. This spring and summer Jandon has been in school and my new job is more demanding, so we have had to stay home more than I have liked. We are going to be joining my family the first week of August in Pronghorn!!! We are so excited. Immediately after that I will have Camp, so I will be in Oregon for two weeks! Jandon will go out for the first part and then come home to finish out his term and finals. We are so excited to see everybody. Sorry Andy and Emily! You guys can still stay at our house though when you come to Provo.

"AMM" #2

This is for sure my new favorite thing to post now. You guys aren't giving me any ideas yet! This is one of my most favorite movie moments ever. Hope you enjoy!

It's Official

Jandon was pleased to announce this afternoon that he got the job as Head-Editor for the philosophy department. He will be in charge of putting together the peridocals that they put out every spring. He is very excited and so am I.

1st American Media Moment

Just watch the first 3 minutes of the video (unless you want to watch more) Sorry about the subtitles! This scene was my most favorite of all time! I think all of us remember me watching it over and over again. Then Eryn made me a tape with those REM songs. Good times!

Coming Attraction

As most of you know Emily and Andy are going to be a little out of touch with all of us and the USA. Emily and I were talking before she left and she was sad that they didn't have a video IPod so they could watch some shows when they wanted to see some American media! We decided that I will post a weekly "American Media Moment" for her. If any of you have any ideas for things to post let me know!

Happy Father's Day

I hope that everyone had a good Father's Day. We missed all of you and especially my Dad on Sunday. I got to talk to him though while he was having fun in San Francisco. What more could a Dad want than a Ghiradelli Sundae!?

A Lazy Saturday

I had probably the best Saturday in a long time today! I got to sleep in (which makes any day good) I used to be able to sleep in a lot more, but now that I work 5 days a week that has cut into my sleeping-in time! We also have church at 8am now, so that doesn't allow any lazy Sunday mornings. Jandon had a lot of homework to do today, so I just read and napped while he worked. It was nice just to relax. It was 102 here today, and I am not one to want to be outside when it is that hot. i have got to go cut Jandon's hair before church tomorrow!

Slushie Mugs

Thanks to Chris and Valerie our new summer treat is have slushies in our Slushies Mugs. They got them at Target for real cheap! It has been the best 5 bucks we have spent so far this summer. I prefer the Diet Coke slushie while Jandon is a fan of anything but that!

Children's Hospital

There is this show that Emily and I used to watch like 5 years ago. It is called Children's Hospital. Anyone that knows me obviously knows that my family knows our way around the hospital. The show is now on KBYU. It really is the probably the saddest show ever, but for some reason I can't stop watching it. It shows all these little sick kids and their families as they deal with the illnesses they have. I guess it just makes me all nostalgic or something.

Party at the Park

We celebrated Jandon's birthday yesterday. It was a lot of fun. We had a BBQ at the Provo Park with some friends and some family. It was a hot day, but luckily we had it later in the day, so it wasn't too bad. Jandon did get a little bit of sun. I think his favorite part was getting a white cake with white frosting. He always complains that everyone gets chocolate cake. (thanks to Valerie for getting the right kind of cake!) Thanks to everyone that came and for bringing good food and good company. We are really lucky to have such good friends and family.

You're Fired

This week I had to do my first firing. I don't remember the last time I was ever that nervous. I was supposed to have someone help me with the first, but the guy showed up and I couldn't find my help. It felt more awkward trying to find her, so I just did it by myself. The guy knew what was coming and knew what he done, but it was still sooooo scary. I think I will be good at letting people know "their services are no longer needed" by the time I am done at this job.

Identity Theft

I thought we could all use a laugh from The Office, since we won't see any new episodes till October. I have to say that the season finale was one of the funniest episodes ever.

Sunday, May 27, 2007

I'm not into blogging, but I wanted to say that I had a really fun weekend with Angela. I'm really happy we have been able to be apart of each other's lives, and I'm so lucky she decided to stick with me for another year. She's the best, and I love her.

Jandon

Anniversary

On Friday Jandon and I went to Midway for our Anniversary. Jandon had made reservations at the Zermatt Hotel. It was really fun. We went swimming and hot tubbing. They also had an indoor rec center. We played some basketball and volleyball. Midway was very pretty this time of year. In a few weeks everything the mountains will turn brown, but they were very green this weekend. On Saturday, we went into Park City and went shopping and looked around. Whenever I go to Park City, I always think of the Scavenger Hunt that we had in Historic Park City. I think that was the funnest Thanksgiving ever!

Watch Out For Stationary Objects

Last night we stayed up very late. I ended up cutting Jandon's hair at 1:15 (yes in the middle of the night) and then went to bed. Jandon came to bed later, as he was having trouble falling asleep. When he came to lay down I guess I thought that I was more on his side of the bed than I actually was. I went to scoot over and BAM I hit the wall! It took me a second to realize what happened...then back to sleep I went. I don't recommend doing that.

Office Party

Every Thursday night we have an Office Party. Chris and Valerie, and Kirt and Emily come over and we watch it together. Last night was the season finale and it was so funny. You haven't started watching this show yet--you need to. I thought it looked totally stupid when I saw commercials for it, but it is now my most favorite show. (Yes, it even trumps Grey's Anatomy)

Advice

Well, I got some advice today that if I wanted people to read my blog...I had to start updating it more. So, I guess you can see that I took it to heart. I actually just got a new position at work. My whining about how I could never work 5 days a week has come true. I am officially a M-F working girl. I am the staff coordinator--which is a fancy way to say that I deal with everyone's schedules and problems. I do the hiring and staff development. It is weird to not be on the floor, because I loved my residents, but it has been very interesting and I am learning a lot being in management.

Back to Good

Well, I am excited to let you everyone know that I will be getting my old schedule back at work. For the past 4 months I have been working a double shift (16 hours) and then 3 regular 8 hour days! I am back to working Mon-Wed 12 hour shifts and then an 8 hour shift on Thurs. It will be very nice and I will actually be working more hours, but better hours! I am too spoiled, that it would be hard for me to ever have to 5 days a week.

A Day To Remember

I thought that we could all appreciate this picture. This was so funny. It was the day of Emily's open house in Portland. How could Michele and I resist not putting on our wedding dresses too. I think the funniest part about this was Mom was taking the pictures. She had Dad's camera and she had taken maybe 2o "pictures" then she realized it wasn't the digital camera and the camera she was using had no film. Let's just say we had to do all our poses again! It was pretty funny.

Bye Bye MTC

Jandon has finally quit the MTC. I think he has put dining service behind him! Jandon has been at the MTC since we moved to Provo almost 3 years ago. He was very happy to put in his notice. He has been working for the Philosophy Department at BYU doing editing. Anyone knows that Jandon loves to edit. He was guaranteed part-time work in the spring. Most editors only work in the fall and winter, but he's helping the Head Editor over the spring and summer terms. The only bad thing is I have to get up early in the morning all by myself! 5:30 comes way too early...

No Scool--No Work--No Problem

Jandon and I have had a lot of fun the last few days. Jandon has been out of school since Monday. I was done with work on Wednesday. Let's just say we haven't been doing much of anything since then and it has been awesome. We have both been quite busy since January. Jandon had a very time consuming semester. I have been picking up shifts like a crazy person. It was so nice to just to slow down and hang out. It is something that we could get used to, so it probably best that we have to get back to real life soon. We are lucky to have this time together. I hope we always remember this later on in life when everything gets much more complicated!

The Very Beginning

This was our wedding day...obviously! We will be celebrating our 3rd anniversary next month. We made a deal a year and half ago that we would switch off who was in charge of planning our anniversary. So far, it has been a good deal. Jandon is in charge this year, so we will see what happens!

Our First Blog

Well, we have decided to join the world of blogging. We don't have much to say, but maybe this will make us more creative. Jandon can work on the blog while he has a week off of school.
