Stupid Question

Everyone knows the saying "there is no such thing as a stupid question". Here is an example of someone asking a stupid question: On Fridays, before I leave work, I make sure that all the schedules are out and updated, so I don't get calls from people not knowing what is going on. I thought I had been doing pretty good because it was 8pm on a Saturday night and I hadn't gotten any calls from East Lake. I must have jinxed myself...not more than 10 minutes later the phone rings. I answer it grudgingly expecting some sort of a scheduling issue. The girl says "Hi Angela, it's *Brittany...I was wondering if I could work on a different hall on Monday?" Now, does that question sound like any sort of emergency that you would want to call your boss about in the middle of a Saturday evening? I didn't think so. I thought that was a stupid question, and if you really wanted something you wouldn't bug people over the weekend. I simply said "no" She then went on to ask me how my weekend was going and if I liked having the weekends off. I replied "well, techinally I am having to work right now because you called me." I know I was probably a little impatient, but I was annoyed. I just couldn't get over the fact that she called me just to ask me that. Am I the only one that thinks that's weird? I hope not.
*Name has been changed :)

IKEA

Jandon and I had a fun day today. I was lucky enough to only have to work a half day, so my weekend start around 12. Jandon and I decided to go to IKEA. They opened one in Draper and neither one of us have ever been there, so we decided to jump on the bandwagon. As most of you know Jandon is an English major and he doesn't like to sell back any of his books, so between the two of us we have gotten quite a collection of books. We had been wanting a new book shelf for awhile, since half of our books were getting stacked next to our old shelf. We found a really nice (and inexpensive) bookshelf at IKEA. I am surprised we found anything in that store. It was such a maze! They set it up just right because they only let you go one way which makes you look at everything.

Summer Vacation

Last summer we were way too spoiled because I felt like we did a lot of vactioning. This spring and summer Jandon has been in school and my new job is more demanding, so we have had to stay home more than I have liked. We are going to be joining my family the first week of August in Pronghorn!!! We are so excited. Immediately after that I will have Camp, so I will be in Oregon for two weeks! Jandon will go out for the first part and then come home to finish out his term and finals. We are so excited to see everybody. Sorry Andy and Emily! You guys can still stay at our house though when you come to Provo.

"AMM" #2

This is for sure my new favorite thing to post now. You guys aren't giving me any ideas yet! This is one of my most favorite movie moments ever. Hope you enjoy!

It's Official

Jandon was pleased to announce this afternoon that he got the job as Head-Editor for the philosophy department. He will be in charge of putting together the peridocals that they put out every spring. He is very excited and so am I.

1st American Media Moment

Just watch the first 3 minutes of the video (unless you want to watch more) Sorry about the subtitles! This scene was my most favorite of all time! I think all of us remember me watching it over and over again. Then Eryn made me a tape with those REM songs. Good times!

Coming Attraction

As most of you know Emily and Andy are going to be a little out of touch with all of us and the USA. Emily and I were talking before she left and she was sad that they didn't have a video IPod so they could watch some shows when they wanted to see some American media! We decided that I will post a weekly "American Media Moment" for her. If any of you have any ideas for things to post let me know!

Happy Father's Day

I hope that everyone had a good Father's Day. We missed all of you and especially my Dad on Sunday. I got to talk to him though while he was having fun in San Francisco. What more could a Dad want than a Ghiradelli Sundae!?

A Lazy Saturday

I had probably the best Saturday in a long time today! I got to sleep in (which makes any day good) I used to be able to sleep in a lot more, but now that I work 5 days a week that has cut into my sleeping-in time! We also have church at 8am now, so that doesn't allow any lazy Sunday mornings. Jandon had a lot of homework to do today, so I just read and napped while he worked. It was nice just to relax. It was 102 here today, and I am not one to want to be outside when it is that hot. i have got to go cut Jandon's hair before church tomorrow!

Slushie Mugs

Thanks to Chris and Valerie our new summer treat is have slushies in our Slushies Mugs. They got them at Target for real cheap! It has been the best 5 bucks we have spent so far this summer. I prefer the Diet Coke slushie while Jandon is a fan of anything but that!

Children's Hospital

There is this show that Emily and I used to watch like 5 years ago. It is called Children's Hospital. Anyone that knows me obviously knows that my family knows our way around the hospital. The show is now on KBYU. It really is the probably the saddest show ever, but for some reason I can't stop watching it. It shows all these little sick kids and their families as they deal with the illnesses they have. I guess it just makes me all nostalgic or something.

Party at the Park

We celebrated Jandon's birthday yesterday. It was a lot of fun. We had a BBQ at the Provo Park with some friends and some family. It was a hot day, but luckily we had it later in the day, so it wasn't too bad. Jandon did get a little bit of sun. I think his favorite part was getting a white cake with white frosting. He always complains that everyone gets chocolate cake. (thanks to Valerie for getting the right kind of cake!) Thanks to everyone that came and for bringing good food and good company. We are really lucky to have such good friends and family.

You're Fired

This week I had to do my first firing. I don't remember the last time I was ever that nervous. I was supposed to have someone help me with the first, but the guy showed up and I couldn't find my help. It felt more awkward trying to find her, so I just did it by myself. The guy knew what was coming and knew what he done, but it was still sooooo scary. I think I will be good at letting people know "their services are no longer needed" by the time I am done at this job.
